But with this, one would have to go out of their way to participate. Most people use their phone and exert no effort than a swipe of the thumb. A big problem with this app is the amount of effort it takes to use it. However that doesn’t mean nobody would use it.

As of October 2014 the app is also only available on IOS so android users can’t participate. There is a good amount of people who, like me, would be too afraid to do this and that would lead to less people actually using the app, lowering the chances of a person being in the vicinity of your friend to deliver a message. It is for a similar reason why I can’t see this app catching on. The gamer in me would love to accept the challenge but the introvert in me would refuse to approach strangers and start talking to them.

It’s seeing who has the courage to go up to a stranger and can accurately convey a message that they didn’t write. I feel like the app is a challenge to these people. Likely separated by great distances coupled with ambiguous user names, they feel like they can say whatever they want with no repercussions. In our technology driven society it is common for people to feel protected behind their computer screens. I think the anonymity of the internet is what inspired July to create this this app. The way it works in a nutshell is you send a message to a user (your friend), you get a list of other users in their area, you send them a request to deliver your message with your friends profile picture, if they accept it your friend gets a notification that a user is about deliver your message as well as their profile picture, your friend tells you that they got your message and they rate the user’s performance on a scale of 1 to 5 stars with 5 being the best.
